# Lesson plan brief

Fill this in before you ask for a plan. Every blank you leave is a blank the
model fills with an average class that is not yours.

## The class

- Grade or year, subject, and course level: [e.g. grade 5 math, on-level]
- Number of students: [count]
- Minutes in the period, and what eats them: [e.g. 45 min, 5 lost to passing]
- Where this sits in the unit: [lesson 3 of 8]
- What they did last lesson, and how it went: [prior lesson + result]
- Prior knowledge I can actually assume: [skills already secure]
- Prior knowledge I cannot assume: [gaps seen in class]
- Groups needing a different entry point: [e.g. 4 students below grade level,
3 multilingual learners at emerging proficiency, 2 with IEP accommodations
for extended time — describe needs, never names]

## The target

- Standard or curriculum reference, quoted from the official document:
[paste the exact code and wording]
- Learning objective in student-facing language: [I can ...]
- The specific misconception I am targeting: [what they get wrong and why]
- Success criteria — what a student who has it can do: [observable evidence]

## The constraints

- Materials actually on hand: [board, 1:1 devices or not, manipulatives,
printer access, textbook edition and pages]
- Materials I cannot use: [no projector, no printing, no group tables]
- Room and seating: [rows, pods, lab benches]
- Anything fixed in the schedule: [fire drill, assembly, half period]

## The deliverable

- Timed sequence with minutes per segment, adding up to the real period length
- Teacher moves and student moves for each segment
- The exact question or task that checks for understanding mid-lesson
- Differentiation: one scaffold and one extension, tied to the objective
- Exit ticket and what each answer would tell me
- Materials list and prep steps
- A shortened version for the day the period is cut to [X] minutes
- Editable document, plus [slides / handout / neither] built from the same plan

## Rules for the model

- Use only the standard text I pasted. Do not invent or paraphrase a standard
code. If you are unsure of a code, say so and leave a placeholder.
- Do not cite studies or frameworks I have not given you.
- Budget the minutes explicitly and show the running total.
- Flag any segment that assumes a material I did not list.
- Where the plan depends on knowing my students, say so instead of guessing.
- No student names, IDs, or identifying details will be supplied, and none
  should be requested.
